| when i went home this weekend, i was greeted by:
his name is winter, but i call him nachos because he is yellow and white. my brother got him at the shelter. he is a yellow and white mix cat, a little over a year old, incredibly soft, and unbelievably lazy. he is so lazy that if he sees you sitting, he will jump onto your lap and just fall asleep. this morning i was woken up at 6am! to this:
and in less than 5 minutes it turned to this:
what a lazy cat. i was scared that if i moved he'd wake up so i basically stared at him until i had to get up. i have to admit, cats are actually pretty fun to play with and scare. on the moments that he was awake i would have him chase some yarn. he would even hid outside my room where i couldnt see him then pounce on the yarn. watch out benjamin the bunny, you might be replaced by nachos the cat. well maybe not, but i do like cats a lot more after this weekend things i miss from home: good food toilet paper that feels like its bajillion-ply and extra quilted. none of the rip as you wipe kind excuse to not do any work matress + pillow + sheets + blanket seeing people at church again having lunch as a family nachos the cat
another story: the past week or so, my bed (inflatable raft) has somehow gotten a hole. one morning i woke up and i was on the floor. not thinking much of it, i pumped it up that night and the next morning i was on the floor again! it is incredibly uncomfortable when its half inflated because its hard to move and too squishy. so i decided to deflate it all together. sleeping on the floor isnt as bad as i thought it'd be. i decided to add this picture just because:

"After
giving a brief survey of these doctrines of sovereign grace, I asked for
questions from the class. One lady, in particular, was quite troubled. She
said, 'This is the most awful thing I've ever heard! You make it sound as if
God is intentionally turning away men and women who would be saved, receiving
only the elect.' I answered her in this vein:
"'You
misunderstand the situation. You're visualizing that God is standing at the
door of heaven, and men are thronging to get in the door, and God is saying to
various ones, 'Yes, you may come, but not you, and you, but not you, etc.' The
situation is hardly this. Rather, God stands at the door of heaven with His
arms outstretched, inviting all to come. "Yet all men without exception
are running in the opposite direction towards hell as hard as they can go. So
God, in election, graciously reaches out and stops this one, and that one, and
this one over here, and that one over there, and effectually draws them to
Himself by changing their hearts, making them willing to come. Election keeps
no one out of heaven who would otherwise have been there, but it keeps a whole
multitude of sinners out of hell who otherwise would have been there. Were it
not for election, heaven would be an empty place, and hell would be bursting at
the seams."
resolved: truthfully, i did not have any expectations going to resolved this year. but after the first message firday night, i was blown away. to hear sermon after sermon from four solid men of God was definitely a blessing in itself. after being flooded with so much information, i was given the advice of focusing on one topic that God really spoke to me about this past weekend; the sovereign grace of God through election. when Mahaney read the quote above, he paused at "So
God, in election, graciously reaches out and stops this one, and that one, and
this one over here, and that one over there" and i could tell he was fighting back tears because i was doing the same thing. unlike most christians i know, i never grew up in a christian home, in fact the only christian i know from my entire relatives which includes uncles, aunts, cousins, is my grandmother. for eighteen years i was running as hard and as fast as i could away from God. had it not been God electing me, i know i would have never turned to God myself. knowing that i am undeserving of everything that i have and yet God continues to bless me, that is sovereign grace.

| this week has truly been awesome. during welcome week we had a table on
library walk and handed out surveys mostly to people who looked like
freshmen. and this week we finally got to call eveery one of them. we
also got to go in the dorms and visit these freshmen. at first it
seemed like a daunting task just going in the dorms and knocking on
doors. although these people filled out the surveys and supplied their
address, i still felt a little scared, even though this was something
that ive wanted to do for a while now. and this past week i finally got
a chance to. even though most of the guys i visited were not there, i
still had good times with the ones that were there, giving them a
little something and inviting them to navnite this friday. what ive
learned is most students are pretty friendly and are willing to talk.
its just getting over that initial fear thats hard to do and i think
for me that was the hardest part, not knowing how they are going to
react or if they are going to be welcoming at all. it has been a great
experience and even though there were times when it was uncomfortable,
but hopefully it will not stop me from working for God's kingdom.
When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were
harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepard. Then he said to
his disciples, "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask
the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his
harvest field." Matt 9:36-38
